I recently was trying to use Iprep to make my book drive(using a usb flash drive) and when trying to load my Iextreme firmware it gives me the error "No Valid Firmware Loaded". I have downloaded the latest firmware and the latest Iprep both from multiple download sites to make sure the file was intact and it gives me the same message from them all.
I am new to modding and I just want to make sure I get it perfect without bricking my drive.
I have read all the forums I can on the topic and all are helpful but as always, everyone has different opinions. I have an Xbox 360 premium that was made in October of 2007 with the BenQ drive. I am pretty computer knowlegable but have never modded an Xbox before.
I have downloaded Dosflash 16 and 32 but when I try to load the 32 version Vista tells me it cannot install the portio.sys driver. I am using Vista 64 bit and do not have access to a 32 bit.
Can anyone give me any ideas on how I can make any of this work?
Thanks, right before I came back to check the forum I found that answer but still thanks a lot. Normally don't get quick replies. Couldn't find the actual file so I had to edit the existing one.
What about the other questions, can anyone point me to a tut that they have used and trust. Preferably someone who as used vista 64. Seems most people are using JungleFlash now and I cannot because of the incompatibility issue. Please help anyone, I have read a lot of tuts and forums on this and wouldn't be posting except I want to make sure I use the best of the best as I do not want to brick my drive on the first go.
One more question, whether I use dosflash 16 or dosflash 32 will they both give me the option of saving my original BenQ key or will it just replace it. I want to save it in 50 million different places so it does not get lost accidentally.
Also, just downloaded ABGX 360. It is Version 0.9.4 because its the only download I could find. When I started to verify a game it said it was checking for updates to the "gamenamelookup.csv and abgx360.dat" was it updating itself for version 1.0 or do I need to dig deeper and try to find that download
Yeah, never would think the softwares website would have the downloads for it on there. Major screw up on my part guys and gals. Thats what you get when you wake up in the middle of the night and decide to troubleshoot problems your having... slightly less than par searching abilities...
Thanks for everyones help(although in my defense I did actually find the site before reading that post... just for some reason thought MS would find a way to take down that site I guess thats why i figured it wouldn't have its own site)
Now for the tut... I think I have decided to go with DosFlash16 as I don't trust Windows for not screwing up while trying to do something like flashing a drive. I have the Flash Drive made with my firmware and I know to make the drive boot first, I guess a couple questions are:
Whats the benefits from manual to automatic mode?
Is there an instance where you would need to use manual mode?
Does Dosflash dump the key in a backup file for you? Or must you manually do that yourself(as previously stated, I'm paranoid of losing the key and having a bad flash, thus turing my 360 into a very ugly but effective paperweight)
that's the only way of learning things...About Iprep you need to update the definition file, ABGX 1.0.1 is out and the link to the download has been posted, however and most important here, you cannot use Jungeflasher with a 64 bit OS, you need to downgrade to a regular 32 bit or just use another computer all along...I personally used Iprep to flashed my BenQ and it works everytime I need to update the firm...hope you get it working.
Thanks everyone. I have solved the problems with
Iprep kicking out the firmware(updated the definitions)
Downloaded newest ABGX(thanks for the link)
Got Dosflash to boot correctly(this has to do with another thread I started)
The only questions I have left is when do you need to run Dosflash in manual or automatic mode, and what are benefits of either.
