Hi Guys,
Your probably about sick of me by now Im sorry but I have to ask..

Ive just read through the How to protect your drive from region blocking your wii by not running out of region discs...

This all makes sence that you use your own region discs so as not to update from an out of region disc and turn a pal into an NTSC and brick it..

So for me its only Pal to Pal and I wont have any worrys even if the pal game wants me to Update I can as its a pal wii and a pal game so Im good to go with my homebrew, IOS Downgrade and apps this way...

Is that about right so far?

Now im puzzled about the updates a game can give you and the updates my wii system wants to give me...are they the same updates?

At the moment im running 3.4 pal, I downgraded using the IOS downgrader so im not entirly sure what im running now it still says 3.4 in the wii options panel and before I added homebrew the wii wanted me to update to 4 but under guidance here Ive avoided it so far and all is well..

I see the guides in here have a way to update to 4 for wii's modded with homebrew and have had an IOS downgraded and I wondered what way I need to do this update,

Can I still go to Nintendo for the updates via my console or is this still unsafe and I have to use the solution in here to do that?

If I use the update to v4 thats documented in here will my Wii console stop offering me the update as it will think I have it after doing the guide?

My other question is.. if the updates on the games are the same as the updates my wii console has to offer EG version 4 is it safe to do this if its not safe to get them via the console?

Applogies for all the questions I have been reading but one post went back to 2007 and had 20 odd pages and I was more confused at the end of it with all the old versions and numbers.. :-)

Thanks again
L

currently there's no game yet that is in 4.0. This can be an IOS updates to play the Game like guitar hero or Wii fit. It just like adding driver when you add a hardware. You did not mentioned which game.

For 4.0 updating your Wii are good to go since you have cIOS9. all you need is the IOS60/61. Which method? either one can be used, Waninkoko updater or Nintendo. Few people not lucky on Waninkoko. The only feature in 4.0 is the SD loader.

Thanks fibre,

I think I follow, so the game updates are the same as what the wii wants me to update with except no game updates are at 4 yet yea?

Ok well I have ordered a wii fit and balance board and it arrived today and Im wondering if it will ask me to update...I bought it from a UK seller on ebay and its new so im hoping its going to be ok now ive modded, when I ordered it I hadnt done the homebrew so never even considred it.

Im guessing there will be a driver or updat of somesorts to add with the wii fit boards and with it being quite new wondered what to do if anything?

Thanks again
