hello everybody
glad to finally join these wonderful forums
:-)
i have an ntscwii console modded with the first generation wiikey.
i burnt many wii backups and they are all work great BUT there are several backups which refuse to load like:
mlb2k9
sonic and the black knight mad world
samba de amigo guitar hero world tour
animal crossing
i can see the little pic of the game in the upper left of the screen but when i push on it , the wii shows me a black and unresponsive screen.
some details:
1 - my wiikey is updated with the 1.9s update
2 - burnt these games on several medias like TYdvd-r, TY dvd+r (dvd-rombooktype), verbatim dvd-+r, hp cmc, fujifilm dvd+-r
3 - tried several burning speeds 2x-8x on these medias
4 - downloaded the isos several times (7-8 times each)
5 - these isos are pure ntsc for sure (and not converted pals)
6 - other new and old releases like "monsters vs aliens" work like a charm
hmm...if you havent tried burning at 1x with ImgBurn i would try that, as i have burnt some of those games on TDK DVD-R and they work fine, i have a modchip in mine too but a D2SUN but that shouldnt make no difference.
You havent Brick Blocked these games by any chance?
I have a Wiikey @ 1.9s and have no problem running backups of those games.
Bad source or bad burn are my guess.
Maybe your burner is starting to go bad.
Here's a strange one that I ran into.
I use printable DVDs (TY). All my backups would work fine out of the burner. I would then print a label and they wouldn't work anymore.
I discovered that enough ink residue was (somehow) making it onto the DVD to make it unreadable.
A squirt of DVD cleaner and a good wipe with a micro-fibre cloth made the backups work again. Pay close attention to the outside (edge side) of the backup since the Wii starts reading from there.
my Pioneer burner does not have the 1x speed option when i put these blank medias in it.
on some of my burning tryings i brick-blocked these isos but still - they don't work.
i don't think that my Pioneer is going bad because other wii and xbox360 and movies isos that i burn - work fine. i also burnt these isos with brand new Nec and LG burners and still no luck.

If the game ISO's you have downloaded are the same region as your wii then you dont need to BrickBlock and doing so can make the game unplayable as there could be an update in the game that your wii system needs to be able to play it as i have tried this before and got a black screen and the game isnt playable.
If you can try burning with a different burner maybe a friends etc then i would still try burning at 1x just to elimate its not this problem, i only ever burn at 1x and all my games to date work fine and thats including all the new Sonic games etc. :)

i brickblocked them only after 3-4 burning that they didn't work.
i am going to buy 1x-4x high quality dvd-rs to try to burn these isos in 1x speed.
will let you know shortly if they work.
