i can only order a sata chipset from amazon, so i was wondering if which one of these two would work on a hitachi (prefferably in slax without having to do any extra bullshit). i cant seem to find a straight answer on the best chipset for hitachi's, so i said screw it.

The 2nd one will work best. I just don't trust SYBA. But the best chipset for Hitachi's is the SIL3112a.. But the VIA will do them all so it's best.

I know I just gave conflicting advice, but just get the VIA. You may want to do a Benq, Samsung or Lite-on one day.

If you're going to use SLAX to get your Hitachi into modeB with the VIA, make sure you use SLAX 2 or SLAX 2.1
