dvd keeps digitizing and freezing in the dvd player

I have burned many DVD's in the past without a problem. However, I've just burned a dvd that keeps digitizing and freezing in the dvd player. I've burned the dvd several times in different ways with the same results. I've ckecked that the dvd player is fine, and it is, and made sure there are no finger prints. The only thing I can think of is that the video that is on the dvd is a weak signal because it was recorded on an old s-vhs camera that is on its last leg. can anyone help?
