When Circuit City was going out of business a few weeks back, I was able to get a couple of third party USB fans for about $3.00 a piece. Gives me peace of mind that there's less chance of overheating my Wii.

guaranteed to be noisy as hell. i have the intec v1 and v2 models, and i had to swap out the fans to quieter ones.

but it works.

just a thought, This could also impact the motherboard coz now you are contantly drawing 5 Volts from the USB port? Also don't you think Nintendo designed the Wii and tested on temperature chamber to simulate gamer's how many hours do we spend playing?

This has not been designed and approved by big N so if you broke your Wii using 3rd party products they might not repair or replace for free. Similary to some people using a 3rd party battery changer which causes the Wii Fit board and Wiiremote to fail.

Same thing as adding modchips and software hacks...so it is your own risk..with disclaimer..

then why leave the usb ports powered with wiiconnect24 on?

i've been using a usb cooling stand and the rear fan for over two years. and no problems to the system.

they designed the system to have wiiconnect24 on, so i'm leaving it on. but they failed to cool the system when it's on standby. some people live in hotter places, so that with the added heat can cause damage to the gpu, which did happen to some wii.
