I recently installed a 120 Seagatehd into the ex5000 pvr. I made a mistake when I pressed the PVR button, instead of attempting a record first. Not the box does not come up, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Tried to hook up a connection via console, but it could not resolve a connection as per norm.
Once again, I plugged in the hard drive (until this point the unit was fine) and instead of creating a recording I pressed the PVR button and the unit died, no lights, although it does heat up so it is doing something.
Any ideas anyone, I don't mind tampering with the insides if anyone has any repairs experience.
This has got to be the most expensive month for me.
I purchased another EX5000 PVR. Installed the hard drive and all went well...until the recorded programmes disappeared.
Firstly I blamed the other half for deleting the prog's I recorded. but I found this was reoccuring. I did the basic google search and found that I was not the only experiencing the programmes disappearing. And what I should do is to switch the box off and then after 30 seconds turn it back on.
Taking this advise I did as they said...pressed PVR to see if my recording were back and the screen froze although I could hear the sound. I unit did not respond to the remote or the buttons on the front, so I powered it down again.
And now the bugger does nothing, same as the first unit.
Nice, anyone know someone who does repairs or can provide some guidance I would really appreciate it.
Wow bad luck for you!
I've had the same unit for about 6 months now and its been fine - i've not experienced any issues like what youv'e said. I've recorded a few bits and bobs.. not sure if the type of drive you are using is causing any issues, i've got a Hitachi 5400rpm 40gb installed and it works fine
Godo luck anyway!
