DVD drive won't keep disc

When I put a disc in my Wii it will spin really loud then eject the disc, take the disc back in, spin loud, then completely eject the disc.

The Wii works completely fine and Wiiware games play normally but it will not keep the disc in. Does anyone have any idea what is causing the problem specifically?

We cannot fix it, but give you suggestion? don't you think you have a bad drive? it's more on mechanical failure not like dirty lens it reads and the disk stays inside.Try getting a new drive.

I had already came up with the options of send it in or replace. I want to figure out how to fix it on my own because if I got a new and that same thing happened again then I would have to keep spending money to get it repaired.

Since it turn own and the disc goes in and out there is more than likely a part in the drive causing this and I wanted to know if someone knew which part it was and if possible how to simply fix or replace that part like with the grinding noise fix.

Is it softmodded already? If so, try USB Loader. If your games play from USB loader, then you can safely conclude that your drive is bad.

I don't know; but you have to isolate the problem. First see if the drive is the problem. If you can borrow a friend's/relative's drive and swap them to see if the problem goes with the drive. Then if you know that it is the drive, the next thing I would try is the laser.

I have a small problem now. I replaced the laser but this little white plastic piece seems to be left over. It is rectangular, about and inch and a half long, quarter in wide has two really small holes in it that are way to small for screws and a space thats kind of like a tab on one side.

Does anyone who has word with open a wii disc drive no where this goes?
