I attempted to use the via 6421 chipset card that i used successfully on a samsung drive. When i turn on the drive it freezes my whole computer. I connected to the onboard sata on my motherboard and the drive isn't recognized by jungle flasher at all. Do i need to burn the unlock cd since it's a 79?
I had the same problem, you need to turn your computer on WITH your drive already on, that should eliminate the freezing. And yes you also need to unlock it, google a tutorial on it, its pretty easy.
i have the slax cd downloaded to unlock the drive. do i put the cd in the pc or xbox drive? i boot from that drive and than hit the eject button when it says loading or whatever i can't get to that point. do i need to install the drivers for my via 6421 card?
Yes, install the drivers then restart and make sure the card is detected. Then shut off your computer and connect your drive to it. Now boot to the slax cd and when it says "Spinning up disk..." hit the eject button wait like 5 seconds and reboot the computer ONLY. Then boot back into your OS and launch Jungle Flasher, and it should be detected. Oh and one helpfull thing, try and use your VIA cards main SATA port, its got a higher chance of sucess if you use it.
Hi everyone, I am really in need of help. I have a hitachi 79fk drive. About two weeks ago i was able to flash the drive. Then while messing around with the drive again i dropped it on the ground and it no longer works. I bought a new 79fk drive off ebay but I need help spoofing the new one so that it can be used in place of the old one. I have both the original.bin and hacked.bin files from the old drive. I really need help.... Anything advice will be helpful... Thank you
Luckily sense you were smart and bought the exact same type of drive you have a very simple task, flash the hacked.bin from your old drive onto the new one and you should be all set, use jungle flasher. if you need more help on exactly how to do it just ask.
To address Necrana's comment, I had tried switching the pcb boards but apparently the reason my old drive was not working was because i fried the pcb board. And on another note, I was finally able to flash my new drive with the hacked.bin file and it works like a charm. Thanks to both Waxydead and Necrana for all the help and suggestions.
