I was just wandering when using backups on the 360 using a chip or softmod are the rumors true that it ruins the laser if so how does it do this.
As well as this for the people who do use backups does it make alot of noise or stuff up. Because i used to have have a swap ps2 and it made more noise and would constantly freeze.
1. no, but if it did lasers come pretty cheap.
2. no, i have several modded systems in my home and have modded many others and i cant tell the dif in orig and backup at all, no noise increase.
Lag in games from all my backups is due not to disc but the game itself, even farcry 2 tends to do it,lag that is,rule of thumb the slower the burn the less errors you will get, just for record i use verbatim made in singapore burning at 1x on over 100 backups of different games all play well, however these are backups i made myself not downloaded
Personally i notice a slight noise increase just when i load a burned game, but then again i rarely play retail games so im not sure. Also if you are worried about the lazer just save the game to the hard drive and run them off there (also doing that will eliminate almost all noise.)
But i have been running a modded 360 for over a year now and ive kept the fw updated and personally i think it runs great and i havent noticed much of a noise (not enough to complain about) and no lag realy at all. I also burn Memorex discs at 6x.
Sometimes depending on the drive, a backup may make the disc drive read quicker causing the disc to spin a bit faster and the laser moving faster, causing the noise. Usually its just the Hitachi's that do it. Also it can be the game, I always use Verbatim DL discs and burn at 2.4X. And to insure quality, I Always, Always use IMGburn. Best program out there to burn backups.
