could read the TSOP, but the OP isnt going to be capable of doing this. he would have to send it out to someone to do it. other than that, dont know how he could get the key back.

If you need help with recovering your key, I can get it. I have done it multiple times for friends that had no idea what they were doing. IF you were interested it would be $50 for the original key to be found, plus I'll flash for you, so there is no problem again. Plus I will burn your original key on a disc, with its information so you'll never lose it again. And I have had some people lose that disc too, so I can email it to you. You can never be too careful. So either pm me or email me @ superhacker_400@yahoo.com . It would be $50 plus the shipping to me and back to you. If you have trust issues, like many do, you can pay paypal. I am good at what I do, and I do what I'm good at, so if you have no choice email me.
If a bad key was flashed to drive, I don't think there is any type of recovery for that. Even desoldering the tsop and reading with an external programmer will just read the bad key. Right?

nothing is flashed to the tsop, the drive key must match the tsop, so if the drive was flased with the wrong or bad key, it in no way effects the tsop.
just erease the drive and flash with the correct key after it is recovered.
