my 7 year old son saved over our credits, after working for months to get Ace level, we are back to begining...(Ace Combat) how do I recover the data? I don't have the time again to fly all the missions, is there a way to find the data, or anyting?
Ace Combat...? Which Ace Combat are you talking about? 4? 5? Zero?
...the PSX ones?
And I don't think you'll be able to recover the data. Maybe going to Gamefaqs and downloading a gamesave or something... but that's assuming you can get it onto your PS2 memory card (either if you have a USB drive and homebrew like uLaunch or something or a PS2 cheat device).
Thanks for replying, it's ALL THREE actually...I went away on a business trip, came back a month later and "poof", it was all gone. I am over the emotional period and we are fighting our way back, but it sure would be nice if there was a shortcut to get his planes back. What is your best advice for a non-game-tech-savvy dad? Greatly appreciated.
Well, do you have a cheat device like Action Replay MAX or Gameshark?
If you do, it should have come with a memory card-to-PC adapter or something like that, and you can hook up your memory card to it, download your PS2 gamesave from Gamefaqs, and use the AR/Gameshark software CD to place the gamesave on the memory card.
If you don't, then you can try getting Swap Magic (a set of discs that allows you to play backup games or load homebrew software) and searching around here for some sort of program that you can put onto a USB drive or something and can use to convert the gamesave. Boot up Swap Magic, load the program, and then there should be a way to copy the gamesave from the USB drive to the memory card.
As you can see, there isn't any real "easy" way to get your saves back. You'll have to either work through the game again, or you'll have to learn some PS2 modding/hacking. Sorry.
I would give you my PS2 AC4/5 saves (honestly, Zero and 6 are just shitty copy-and-pastes of 4 and 5, which are the only truly great entries in recent memory) from my own PS2, but... well, I don't know how, anyway.
Great, thanks. I will buy this Action Replay Max and load the gamesaves, sounds easy enough??? I will google it to buy and go to gamefaqs (already located) to load info, thanks, you have been of great help.
