Can someone help me please. I was using softmii on a 3.2E Wii perfectly fine, when I discovered instruction on how to update to 4.0 with Softmii (http://softmii.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=298 bottom of the first post here),
I had a code dump error when installing the system menu wad file, and now my wii won't load at all (display anything on the screen). It doesn't even boot into preloader.
Can anyone help? or is my wii now just a shiney white brick?
Well if you have installed preloader in the past, you should be able to get into it. You power on the system and hold the reset button correct? What you may want to try is getting the Wii into recovery mode. This requires a Gamecube Controller, and the ability to press all 4 directions on the D-Pad (Connected to Port 4). When you power on the Wii, press all 4 directions down, and it should go into a recovery menu. I personally couldn't get this on my bricked Wii, cause I did something to it that wasn't fixable, but yours may be different.
If you have a Nintendo Brand controller, you will need to take it apart, and just push on the rubber pad inside, for the D-Pad, cause the D-Pad has a nub that makes it really difficult to press all 4 at once.
Now I just have one other question for ya. Did you install the SoftMii 2.1.1 before doing this update to 4.0? I ask this, because when you go through the install, they have you setup starfall, which makes it so if you ever do brick, you can plug a Gamecube controller into Port 1, and when booting the Wii up, you hold down Y on the controller. Try some of those to see if you can get it back up!
