Have a buddy going to gamestop, buying a refurbished PSP Phat.

Questions:

Can he check anything on the box prior to buying it to ensure he can mod it?

What steps does he need to mod it? I modded my original PSP about 2 years ago and completely forgot. I use DA's firmwares without issue. But the initial steps I do not remember. He has a 4gb Sony Memcard, but will he need another one for Pandora Battery?

Any tips/guides appreciated.

he can mod it, because its phat. to install CFW you need a Pandora Battery and a Magic Memory Stick. You can turn the 4GB MS into a Magic Memory stick by using PSPGrader v008(google it). To Install CFW, you need to take the MS and Battery out, then put the MS Back in. Hold "L" and put the battery in. let go when you see a menu. Click "Install 5.00 M33" to install CFW. Enjoy!
