For the past two years i have connected to Xbox live using my laptop pc running Vista Home Premium. Due to finacial problems i ended up selling my 360 hdd to my friend and during this time preformed a factory restore on my pc. i recently purchased a new hdd and when i tried to connect it says cannot obtain ip adress. I have been trying to resolve this problem off and on for over a month. xbox live support was no help my isp was no help and searching google has lead me to no answers. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Heres my setup-

Modem---Router))))PC----360

PC- HP Pavillion dv6000
Modem- Seimens SpeedStream 4100
Router- Lynksis WRT54GS V7

Things ive tried-

Set up static ip - failed (80% possitive i did this right)
Allow (ICS) - failed
Updating drivers - failed
Updating Frimware - failed (router firmware)
Same setup with XP PC - worked
Same setup with Mac - worked

In the past i automatically obtained the ip adress and dns so i have left that the same. Also when i view my network connections with my 360 plugged into my pc it shows that i have full wireless connection while my Local Area Connections reads as an unidentified network. Oddly enough while i was typing this i noticed that were it reads unidentified network it occasionally bounces between enabled and unidentified network. If anyone has any suggestions or knows how to fix this please help me i really want to kill people on CoD. :)

Are you just connecting the 360 to the laptop, and it would usually connect for you? What I had to do was bridge the connections so that the 360 could go off the wireless. To do this, select both the LAN Connection and the Wireless connection, and right click on one of them, and there should be an option to bridge the connection. That should get you up and running.

DAMN DAMN DAMN DAMN DAMN!!!!!! actually i should be saying thank you. lol ive been tryin to bridge those forever but it always said something about not being able to bridge a connection that had shared interent so i thought that i had to leave the interent sharing on well i turned it off bridged the connection and everything works great i can not thank you enough.
