Could someone explain what is the difference between the MS Transfer kit and using a Talismoon "Minispy SATA" Xbox 360 Hard Drive Data Transfer Adapter?
The difference is the M$ Transfer Kit, is used for transfering files from an older drive to a newer one (i.e. from 20GB to a new 120GB). The Minispy by Talismoon, is for connecting your 360 HDD to the computer, without having to take the HDD out of its enclosure.
So if you are looking to just get a cable to transfer stuff from your old drive to a new one, get the M$ Transfer Kit. (They have a form on their website to get one).
If you want to transfer your data to your PC, then get the Minispy!
cool thats what I wanted to know didnt know if it was possible to just use the transfer cable with the PC seeing as the minispy also comes in a usb version.
Another thing with the MS transfer kit.. you can't transfer info from a 120gb to another 120gb. Only 20gb to 120gb. If you have any info saved on the 120gb, it will be erased.
really that's shit. I think I will get the mini spy kit then its only like $10 plus looking at it it looks like it will make it possible to connect my 360xtractor without opening my case anymore.
When I upgraded my 20GB to a 120GB (not buying the M$ one), I thought I could just make an image of the 20GB with Xplorer360, then insert that image onto the 120GB. Well, it turns out that when you do that, the system still thinks that it's a 20GB, even though it was the 120GB. I personally just gave up, and started everything over, which did piss me off a bit, but that was over a year ago, so it's all good now.
If there is a way to do that, then that would be really helpful for others that want to upgrade their HDD (the not M$ way).
