Animal Crossing City Folk - Golden Axe

This is for those that play allot of City Folk.

I know your supposed to throw a regular AXE into the water fountain to get the golden axe.

I have been cheating a little trying to get it. I will throw the axe in and if I don't get a golden AXE I save the game and then set the date to the next day. I have gone through 6 months already (everyday of the month) and have not got a Golden Axe yet.

I have got 3 Silver Axes doing this but not a Golden Axe :-(.

Is there a specific way to answer the question the girl ask to get a better chance at the Golden Axe?

Or is it just random and rarely happens?

I have spent hours on this and it is frustrating.
