I was wondering if anyone knows how to convert or rebuild a PS1 formatted games to a PS2 formatted game, in order to be able to store/playe it from the hard drive? I know it's possible because I've downloaded a game that was originally a PS1 game, which was converted to PS2. Please let me know. Thanks.
Impossible, HDLOADER is a ps2 application and uses the PS2 cpu in the PS2 the emotion engine. HDLoader cannot start a ps1 game while in ps2 mode as the PS1 cpu (which is actually the dvd IO cpu in the ps2) will not boot anything except from the cd drive.
Its overly complicated....
It would only work if there was a ps1 version of hdloader and that will never happen
ffgriever from console-exploits is working on a psx emulator for the ps2. He is waiting until he has esr working completely bug free before he finishes work on it.
Hope this helps

I already know and understand that HDLoader can not store and will not boot PS1 games from the hard drive. And "storing/booting PS1 formatted games using HDLoader" was not my intend question. My question IS "How to convert PS1 formatted games to PS2 format, in order to store it onto the HDD and use HDLoader to boot it". This way, HDLoader will detect the converted game as a PS2 formatted game. Again, I have Alone in the Dark (the PS1 game) installed on my HDD and I'm able to play it using HDLoader. The person who converted or rebuilt this game made it so that it is detected as PS2 format. Hope this clarify things.
If the game in question is Alone In The Dark: A New Nightmare, then that was released on both PS1 and PS2. As for 'converting' PS1 to PS2 format it simply cannot be done or else there would be no need for everyone in the 'scene' to waiting on tenterhooks for ffgriever's ps2psxe
Meh, I wouldnt worry about converting anyway. With a new PS2 its to easy to just use the swap trick as shown in Tutorials I have made to play any copied PS1 game on a slimline PS2. no need to wait or anything just burn, Put in an orig PS1 disc and swap it out with the burnt one.

Well, yeah that's the whole idea here. I'm trying to avoid burning games onto disc and booting it whether using modchip, swap magic, etc. I want to avoid wasting media and wearing down the laser whenever possible.
