Hello every body,

I have problems with Windows XP (SP3) who is refreshing too often (Explorer and Desktop), i.e.:
- if I?m trying to find a folder, I?m thrown away from the current folder to the root.
- if I?m searching a program in the ?Start >>> Programs? menu the menu is closing itself.
The behaviour is like someone presses continually the F5 key while I?m trying to work with the computer.

This occurred after updating the McAfee Antivirus Software ( because the last installation 8.0.i wouldn?t let itself uninstalled smoothly, I did have to delete Registry keys containing McAffe manually before installing the new version ( the 8.5.i) )

Note:
I?ve found something on Internet ? but :
- is the exact contrary ...
- and is for Windows 95 ...

Speed up the Windows Refresh Rate
If every time you add a new folder, or you delete something from a window, and you have to hit F5 (Refresh) to see the results, here is how to make Windows refresh automatically:

Start the Registry Editor
Double-click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Go to System > CurrentControlSet > Control > Update folder
Go to the right pane and right-click on UpdateMode and select Modify. Change the value from 01 to 00
Click on OK and exit the Registry Editor
Restart Windows 95 for the changes to take place.

I?ve tried to do the inverse ? change System > CurrentControlSet > Control > Update folder to 01 (in fact it was like that already) but I?ve changed it to 0 then to 1 ? nothing changes ? Win XP still refreshes and closes my System Menu and Explorer Folders.

Thank you in advance for a solution to stop it from this unnecessary updates ?
