I am about to buy a refurb fat psp. I want to put custom firmware on it to be able to play psx and psp backups. I have heardthat if your firmware on the fat is lower than 3.50 you don't need a pandora battery.

Is this true? And if so could someone point me to a guide on doing it?

If you wish to mod it without a battery you will have get a hold of GTA: Liberty City Stories or Lumines(the first one) that is not patched and a copy of the exploit which you will have to find because im not sure where to find it now. Really I would use the battery since theres almost no chance of bricking at all and you can even unbrick your psp if something does go wrong(not likely).
