I have firmware 3.03 OE-C and i just bought two games for the psp and they will not play. The Ratchet and clank size matters all i get is a black screen. The Star Ocean First Departure is telling me to update my firmware to th version 4 or higher. Then the games tells me "The game could not be started (DADADADA)" How can i get this fixed? I can play my burnout legends just fine.

WOW dude I have not seen that firmware in a while you should really update it to run those games I suggest at least 3.90 m33 but 3.80m33 could work. If you want to keep that firmware the games may not run to good if at all.

Go HERE to get the update patchers and HERE to get the firmware packages. Download both and put the firmware pack in the update patcher folder then put that folder into the psp\game\ folder on your PSP.

EDIT:Oh and be careful not to update to official firmware on accident.

I've been using 5.00 M33-6 and it's working fine. You need that FW for some later games.

I would like to use the 5.00 M33-6 firmware but the first link with all the patches ae confusing. To be honest can you tell me which ones i should get? I'm really new at all this. Sorry for the troubles.

Well it seems that custom firmwares have the ability to play games that they are not supposed to(spoofed?) it has happened a few times with some of the games I play where they do work on 4.01 but they should only work for 5.00+.

Well first go to the first link at the very bottom of the page look for 5.00 M33 - By Dark_AleX and find 5.00 M33-6 and download that. Then go to THIS and download it. Open the 5.00m33-6 file and take out the folder inside and put it in your PSP\GAME\ folder on your PSP. Then take the 500.PBP file and put that in the folder with the update file.

Edit: You can also put the update in the root of the memory stick I think and only take out the UPDATE folder not the translate folder unless you need it.

Ok i moved the containts of the folder 500m33_6 to the PSP/Game folder and i moved the update file in the PSP\GAME\UPDATE folder. I restarted the PSP and still the same error as before. Do i need to run something?

After all that go the main menu on the psp and go to the game option the update should be under that.

I ran the update file and i got an error need 3.52 ms-3 or higher

Oh dang I thought it would work I guess THIS is all you can do to update your psp the steps to use it are the same but it is a slightly different application just put the 500.pbp file in the recovery folders start the app and choose 5.00 for firmware.

That worked out great. I now have the 5.00 firmware version and the games started up. Thank You very much for the help. Do you know if this firmware version can play iso off the memory stick?

You can use that one but you have to enable it in the vsh menu press select then go to umd iso mode and go to ether m33 driver or sony driver.
