Just got downloaded an MKV. The full file name of the MKV is:
Blade.Runner.1982.Final.Cut.720p.HDDVD.DTS.x264-ESIR

I've now converted it into an AVI using the program, AllToAvi.
Thing is, there's no sound with the resulting AVI. (The AVI's audio properties are:

Cyberlink Mpeg 1 Layer 3.

I've also converted it into a DVD, using VSO ConvertX to DVD, and from the video files in DVD Shrink, I can see the Audio is "AC3 2-Ch unspecified", but no sound when I play the movie with DVD Shrink on my PC.

Have I got audio from this movie, and, if so, why no audio playback? Do I need to download some kind of codec to play this movie on my PC?

Don't know a lot about audio but my guess would be DTS, none play for me and I steer clear of anything showing DTS.

Yes, you need to download the AC3filter .

At present, I use the AC-3 Filter and before that, AC-3 ACM, can't play them.

It wouldn't play DTS, but if it is AC3, should play it.

Thanks for the info, folks. I've now downloaded the AC3 filter. What settings do I now have to change in the config to get audio on my PC for this video?

Also, with the info I gave you, re what I saw in Shrink, does it mean sound is already encoded, so that if I play it on a Stand alone player, or Xbox, or whatever, I'll get sound?

I have a home theatre system, with DTS/Dolby Digital, etc. 5 speaker system. It's currently not a my place though, so can't check out if once I burn this movie onto a test DVD+RW, whether I'll get sound from it.

So, please let us know about the sound issue and the config.
