Hello,

I have a wiikey clone currently installed on my wii. This clone does not allow me to update or play newer games.

I recently purchased a wiikey 2 only to find that the solder points are different. I currently have the wiikey clone installed using the long wire installation, since the wires have solid connections to the drive, I was wondering if there was a way to just unsolder the old chip from the drive and to solder the new chip using the new wires, is there a translation diagram, or what will be the procedure to do this?

thanks

el john.

Unsolder the wires from the WiiBoard and Wiikey clone. Then use the wires and this diagram HERE to solder the wires to the new spots.

All you should have to do is solder the 3.3V, GRD, A, B and C spots using the above diagram.

Thanks for your response.

I was actually hoping to use the existing wires on the board because I don't have very good soldering skills, but I guess if it is only those 5 wires on the big points I can handle it.

Can you please confirm that there is no way to use the existing wires.

Also can you confirm that I do not have to solder point G. The guide is not very clear as to whom should use the point G.

I just looked at my wiikey and my serial number is yellow.

As soon as I get word from you on this I will proceed to install the chip.

Thanks,

El John

You need to solder the wires to the points that the diagram says. So since the Wiikey Clone soldering points are different then the Wiikey 2 you need to unsolder and resolder to the proper points. There is no way around it.

Point G is for D2C and above drives. Since you have a Wiikey clone then your drive is either D2B or below so G should not have to be soldered.

This was just the information I needed. I will install it today if I get a chance.

One more question: Does the wiikey 2 come with the proper firmware to play all the games, or will I have to flash it to the latest version to play games such as Mario Kart and SSBB?

Thanks for your help,

El John.
