PSP "Phat" Capability question

I have looked through the threads regarding what's 'out there' for homebrew, and I still am having some trouble.

I'm now in 5.00 M33-6 on my old 'fat' PSP. I also installed the 1.50 kernel.

The SNES emulator that everyone seems to show me is apparently for the slim PSP. It does work with the FAT PSP too, it seems, but it runs kind of slowly compared to the old SNES emulator I used to use on the fat. Is this normal? The older program I used ran quickly and with sound fully enabled.

Does having the FAT psp give me any advantages in this regard? I guess I'll have to try to find that old SNES emu, but I doubt it's even updated anymore.

Are there specific 1.50-specific things that (for whatever reason) run certain programs faster/better? Why is this? Can anyone recommend a specific SNES emu that I could use?
