Every time I read anything about cfw of the psp phat or slim you seem to have to already have cfw to do anything.... Where do you begin what is required to put cfw on your psp for the first time.... Currently I'm stuck with ofw 5.03 I want customize this b&%$h I keep reading about a Pandora battery haven't found one yet and a magic memory stick. I'm not slow but this stuff is dontting... Help

The pandoras battery is a kit that consists of a service mode battery and a magic memory stick. A service mode battery has the serial number of 0xFFFFFFF which is a code left by Sony as a way to unbrick(fix) a broken psp. The battery tells the PSP to skip the internal storage(firmware) and instead boot from the memory stick. The magic memory stick is a memory stick that will accept the request made by the service mode battery and has the software needed to make official firmware into custom firmware.

Ok i get that, and thanx for the break down, but with this 5.03 ofw there is nothing i can do with this. ok where do I obtain a pandora battery or is that something we don't talk about? And where do you get the code for the majik memory stick?

Yeah its important but for a 3000(and some slims) it will not work so keep that in mind because a new exploit is being made that may have a HEN(homebrew enabled) version out soon.

thanks I will check it out. But when it's all said and done i still have to unbrick this thing with a pandora and downgrade the ofw to something earler like 1.5 ofw and then upgrade to a m33 cfw right? anyway thanks for the advice

No you only need pandora to update to cfw now no other firmware needed.

ok, but the ofw i do have is 5.03 and only phat psp i have acess to is my own, but thanks again i'll check this out. You guy out there are good. I'm glad i joined

if the ofw of your slim is 5.03 i dont like your chances of modding it at the moment but hang around, the guys who crack these things are good. i have read so many times that firmwares cant be cracked then lo and behold couple months later its done so dont despair. your fat psp on the other hand is probably totally crackable so do that and then you will be able to make a pandora for when your slim is crackable and also get all the benifits of having an unrestricted psp the way they should have been in the first place.

I have a Phat psp 1000 unit, but it still has the 5.03 ofw on it. I don't think even dark alex hacked this yet. but'll keep looking. thanx aaain

Phat PSPs(1000) are always hackable but you will need a pandoras battery.

I know that. But I was stuck with 5.03 for awhile, and I wanna know is there anyway to mod with this ofw, or can i just upgade to cfw that's out now, am I in the same hole as before?

3.95 ofw is the highest ofw thats customisable
