Is this possible? I've had a WiiKey for a while, and I'm running version 1.9. My backups play fine, so I've been away from the scene for a bit. Now there's homebrew? Can I load the channels without having to do a firmware mod?
If you're running 3.4 firmware or older, you can install the Homebrew channel without modifying any of Nintendo's IOSes. But you won't be able to run some of the nice apps such as disc backup loaders, USB backup loaders, etc... If you have already upgraded to 4.0, then there's no way to get HBC at this time.
What were you planning to use HBC for? I have the Wiikey also, but found the USB Loader to be an excellent reason to softmod.
download the isohomebrew channel at the homebrew website and burn it and your wiikey will read it like a normal game. Then install homebrew and upgrade. Thats the good thing about mod chips no need to download via internet or other crap. you can still get homebrew.

I checked WiiBrew . org and it says that a DVD image is unavailable. Where do I get it? I'd much rather go this route. Thanks.
OK, nevermind. I found the "official" site. It says that I have to have 3.2 or older, and I have 3.3u. That sucks. Anyway to downgrade? I'd really not have to deal with soft-modding if I didn't have to.
Why don't you just burn the DVD and try it anyway to see if it works. But you know that on 3.3, you can easily install HBC with a copy of Zelda Twilight Princess, and the Twilight Hack. But my question remains that once you install HBC, without softmodding the IOSes, you can't really do much. You'll just have a channel to look at.
