Hey guys im fairly new to this psp modding thing but ive been very heavy into the wii modding scene. I have one question......I modded my psp fat and everything went fine. i used memory magic stick software and the pandora battery maker software from my friends modded psp. So now i did my cousins psp fat using the latest firmware 5.00- 330 (or something like that) and all the roms work i can launch my backup games from the memory stick but the UMD icon is gone and it wont load original games. When i turn the psp on it says "this disc could not be read". Did i delete something by accident? Please help. Thanks!!
Hey thanks for your help. But i went to the xmb menu and it already was on "normal" so then i tried "sony np9660" and still no luck. When i stick the disk in it gives me the could not read disk error. I dont hear the motor spin or the laser moving. On my previous post i said it could read my backups from my memory stick but i was wrong. It cant read them, it only reads the roms. Could it be that the mobo is screwed up? And if so how did it happen? I tried cleaning the lens with a cotton swab and tried moving the laser to see if it was stuck and still nothing. Ive tried 10 differnt psp games and nothing. Any other ideas?
Okay, lemme just revise here;
PSP 1000
5.00 M33-Something CFW
UMDs can't be read
Only ROMs run from the memory stick.
Alright, firstly you're going to want to completely update your PSP, try to install 5.00M33-6. Again, test everything out.
If that doesn't work out, what region are your UMDs or ISOs/CSOs?
Perhaps your PSP isn't recognizing the region. If this is could be the case, go to your PSPs recovery mode (Completely shut it off, turn it on while holding the R trigger), then go to 'Configuration' and select the appropriate region before doing the basic tests again.
Lastly, when your PSP says that the 'UMD Cannot be Read' does it come with an error code? Eg. 'UMD Cannot be Read (8001361)'? If so, search that error code and see if it bears any results.
I suspect that either your firmware is causing the problems, or your UMDs / ISOs / CSOs are incompatible.
Good luck! Sorry for the long message, trying to be thorough.
squiddo...... All UMD's are US region and so are the ISO's i was using from the memory stick. Also it does not give me any error message code. ALl it says is error could not read disk but it doesnt give me any number. This happens whenever i turn the psp on with the game on it or it happens when the psp is already in the main menu page and i stick a disk in. If i update it will it allow me to mod it later again? Also what are the chances that the UMD Drive and laser or the motherboard are jacked up and not the firmware?
Okay, first of all, when I said 'update' I mean to the latest Custom Firmware, so it will still be modded but on the latest version.
Are you sure your memory stick is genuine? And that your ISOs are in the correct folder of your memory stick?
To see if your MS is genuine, insert it into your PSP, and select the memory stick icon under 'VIDEO' on the XMB. Press Triangle and go to information. If it says that MagicGate is supported, then it is genuine, if not then it is probably a fake and may be causing the problems with loading stuff from your MS.
There may be a chance that your hardware is causing the problems, but first make sure that your firmware is all checked out to be sure.
