Ok I read through the forums B4 posting this question so people won't say what I saw a lot while reading "Haven't you look, there are previous threads....ect" and www.google.com" But I can not seem to find a straight answer, or I just do get it. Ok let me first say I am competent in the use of applying homebrew with the PSP a I have installed and Linux on my 250GB HD in my ps3, but I don't understand that Twilight hack, Can it be use on a Japanese Wii, or is it just for the US, Is it possible to add the homebrew channels on the Wii. The Wii is version 3.1 is there anything that I can do to this system to either run U.S games, emulators or any kind of homebrew? Thanks in advance

The Wii hack is not region lock, the only difference when you run/load the Twilight princess(TP)hack is the game save to be use from the Zelda game. The TP by pass nintendo security and load the homebrew channel. The homebrew channel is where you put all your applications to run. e.g. playing backup copy. Also the applications can now be converted as Wii channel.

Do I have to have the Homebrew channel installed? if that is not possible how can I safely play U.S game on a japanese wii?

Since you have a japanese Virgin Wii you need also Japanese Zelda game as well as the game save that has the hack..once you open up the hack this will install the homebrew channel AFTER that you can convert your Wii to US or play backup games...you can search in youtube how it is done to undertands more....

As fiber32 said you need a Jap game of Twilight Princess and the JAP Twilight Princess hack.

You then get the Homebrew Channel installer and make sure it is named boot.dol and place it in the root of the SD Card.

After you transfer the JAP game save to the Wii System and run the game loading the hack the game will start dumping code which in turn will pick up the boot.dol file and install the Homebrew Channel.

Once you have the homebrew channel installed then the possibilities are endless. You can even change the JAP Wii to a USA Wii if you wanted.

That would be the process of region-changing. Here is a guide: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=173601

I had a quick whizz around and I couldn't find a straight answer to this, but here goes. If I was to change the region of my console from PAL to NTSC, would that be permanent then, even if I was to update online?

I assume that because everything I installed was NTSC, and I changed all the settings in ARC, the console would then download the NTSC update? o.0 Correct me if I'm wrong, because I got a bad feeling that there's something I'm missing... lol

I'm not really sure, I've never done anything like this before, but I did region change my korean console, updated online & got the error 003 brick. Don't change your region if it's KOR to PAL or KOR to NTSC.

Yeah, I had heard about Korean consoles being troublesome... >.< I've just done a nand dump and I'm gonna setup sneek now and i'll see what happens when I update to 4.3 online with sneek! ^o^

I'll report back with my results if I can get it working! lol

I hope you remember the risks with updating to 4.3. No reliable softmodding method has been found yet for 4.3 wiis.

Yeah I know! lol I was doing it on a sneek nand. Wouldn't dare to update my proper nand... lol

Anyway, just to let you know, that I did an online update and it updated the system menu to 4.3U without a problem. Obviously, it lost the softmod, but because I did it with sneek anyway it doesn't matter.

So yeah, after doing a region change it will be permanent. From 4.2E to 4.3U over night... lol

Region-change before you update so you don't get a semi-brick.
