db9 to db25 for a homemade extractor?

hey guys- so i started making a homemade extractor for my neighbors liteon( im an electronic student so i have access to all the parts otherwise i woulda just bought one). after i got done, i got home and realized i dont have a 9 pin serial on my pc(whoops). i told my neighbor he would need to buy a serial to usb adapter but upon researching, i found that a lot of people had issues with the usb/serial. does any know, or tried to use a db9 to db25 adapter? (thats the only serial i have on my pc). im have yet to flash a liteon and was trying to go the easiest route possible.

ok, since the original topic wasnt getting any love i'll ask this. can anyone that flashed a liteon with a homemade extractor that used serial to usb tell me what kind of issues they had and how they/if they worked through it? im hesitant to go this route without an idea of what to expect. thanks

really i haven't seen too many people on this forum doing the whole homemade extractor route ...

you'd prob do better to ask on the site where that whole concept originated... google::

so you had no issues with the serial to usb i take it? mine is completely homemade ( 2 resistors,a tansistor and molex on a breadboard with the leg of a resistor in a pen as my probe) i know its made properly, im just worried about the serial to usb. thanks bhetrick
