Hi Guys,
After doing my sisters wii the other day I decided to take mine up to V4.
I followed the tutorial and ran the patched ios60 as the tutorial said and then it told me to go to my connection settings and do a connection test and when it asks to do the update say YES

Like I did with my sisters and I am doing the same.
But when Im on Nintendo getting the update the progress bar starts and goes for a short time then I get an error 32002

It says unable to perform update due to an internet error please try again later??

Im online and the connection test is working but it just wont fully update.

When I boot back into the wii menu I have the sd card icon on my screen and it now says im on V4 in the settings menu but it doesnt seem to have done the full update when i run the updator.

Any thoughts are very welcome.

I shut down all my pc's that are on my netowrk in case my bandwidth was low and that made no difference.

Thanks again for any thoughts. :-)

Other causes of failing to update is the Wii connection setup it much better to set your Wii IP to Static (manual). Method 1 is much safer just in case problem do occur as what you have experienced.. If this happens using Method 2 and with Preloader or softmii, Wii will end up as full brick.

Oh..
I was lucky then?

Why is it safer to do it method 1 then what differences can happen with method 2 as I was tempted to run method 2 when the connection kept going down but feared id brick it with doing so much of the update from nintendo?

It was another scary moment but we seem to be good even got the shopping channel back..

Thanks again

method 1 is just like updating a virgin Wii(getting all IOS) ,Big N assumes this will happen incase connections drops on a client or customer.. just like updating a PC that it can backout for an unfinished update. Method 2,it does not download all the neccesary IOS and retains the old IOS for the trucha patch games. so if problem do occur on the connection or power failure while updating ,Wii will get confuse due to mismatch on IOS.

In method 1 you can do the same as method 2 by running the IOS downgrader after updating to 4.0 so just need to patch the 4.0.

So both end up the same the only advantage of method 1 is: it has a fail safe if problem DO occur.

Thanks Fibre..

Well all done now thankfully...
I wont be doing any more updated on any other wii's now just this one and my sisters and were both at v4 now so hopefully we wont need to do any updates for a good while now.

I see some new bits in my wii setting now like I have a channels section where I can delete channels.. this seems riskey as i see homebrew and backup launcher there I also see a channel thats got ???? as my wii cant work out what it is i guess? I think its the childproof loader but am not sure. I dont recall this section before I updated?

Yes,
My concerns there are the kids deleting by mistake there, although they have been warned to stay out of the settings they are awfull for clicking the wrong things with an unsteady hand....

Next time its on I will try and move them to the far end channels out of site if I can.
Thanks again

Maybe its worth adding this to the tutorial about the fact that its better to set your wii to have a static IP and why...

I havent done this yet but the next time its on and Im in the settings I will look to see where the settings are, I imagine I need to also add the IP in my routers settings and set to static once I do so in the wii like with my IIS web servers internal Ip's?
