Hi Guys,

Thats me on v4 on my wii now and I came from 3.4 quite a new wii.
In reading through some of the forums posts and some go way back to 2006 so Im guessing some of you guys are running old wii's now and are also updated to v4.

So being quite a newbie as far as wii goes I wonder how often you guys have found yourselfs Having to update though necessity rather than choice.

How often to Nintendo bring out their updates or is there no fixed times and shedules?

Im hoping im good to go for a good while with v4 but will I be forced to update again later?

You are never forced to update.

Yes some updates need to be added if you want to play certain games or want to add new functions but if you wait long enough there is usually a work around out within days that keeps most homebrew intact.

As for how often well HERE is a list of updates and dates they where released.

Sorry for the dely in my responce its been one of those weeks.

So if a game comes out that needs to update and you choose No the game wont run, but if I waited a while some kind of workaround will come along that will let us play the game without updating meaning we could stay on V4 for ever?.. is that about right?

What kind of workarounds have you had to do in the past to avoid updating?

An example is Animal Crossing which I think has 3.4 firmware.

I had 3.3 ver1 firmware and did not want to update to 3.4 firmware.

I WiiBrickBlocked the game so it would not update but the game disc would boot at a black screen and nothing else.

So a few days later news came out that you had to install IOS38-64-v3609.WAD which was for the WiiSpeak hardware. So installing just that WAD would let you play the game without updating to Wii Menu 3.4 firmware.

I see,
I have a game with a similar issue..

wwe smackdown V's Raw 2009

I brickblocked it and run it but only get a black screen even though in the wii channes it shows its little image in the disc loader the game wont run..
