I keep getting the following message every time I try to compress a movie:
'The currently selected mode does not match the mode used during "Prepare"-- cannot continue.'
This is on a freshly installed Windows XP Pro with DVD-REbuilder 2.28.2 as the only installed software. IN 1-click mode, it would lock the computer up using 99%+ of the CPU during the redistribution.
When I turned off 1-click, it completes the prepare phase(still sucks up over 50% CPU in addition to HCenc's 40%) and then when I click 'Encode' I get this message.

Is that all there is to the Rebuilder log?
99% of all problems are between the computer and the chair.

I don't remember. I think it got cut off when I posted it. It keeps locking up the computer during the redistributino phase.
I uninstalled 2.28.2 and installed 2.27.3 and got the same problem.
If I bypass redistribution, it will continue into encoding phase but lock up by the fifth segment; DVD-RB just stops spawning encoder windows and has to be killed by task manager.

Movie ripped using AnyDVD6.5.4
Files are on hard drive
I downgraded Rebuilder to 1.26.6 last night and ran an encode, and it ran perfectly. Put 1.28.2 back on and 10 minutes later, it's locked up.

I downgraded from Windows 2003, because of this problem:

but things have just gotten worse.
The only OS I have been able to run this version on is Win3000.

I'm another 1.28.2 Pro user (and i only use HC Encoder, i don't bother with any others), i use it quite a few times a week with zero problems. Try updating Avisynth to 2.5.8.0 (it can't hurt), can't see much else in the logs. I'm leaning towards dialysis's train of thought though.
My main PC used to be an Athlon 2800XP, it worked fine for DVD Rebuilder, it took forever though, movie only mode averaged 5ish hours with 100% CPU (CCE Encoder), had to take the cover off the case as it ran dangerously high to maximum allowed CPU temperature as it was a tiny case.

That still doesn't explain why every version up through 1.26.6 works fine, but from 1.27.3 on, they don't. That indicates something in the code changed to make them incompatible with my hardware.

But explain to me how I could have changed these parameters when I am running "1 CLICK MODE".
BTW I haven't been able to reproduce this error again due to DVD Rebuilder no longer gets out of redistribution due to 100% CPU usage bringing the system to a halt. here is a screen shot I managed to grab just minutes before windows stopped responding to my mouse/keyboard, showing 98% cpu usage by Rebuilder alone:
