Ok, so I've been messed up big time.
I downloaded Pikmin 2 PAL for my wiikeyed 3.3U wii. Brickblocked it and tested: Black screen. No real surprise there. I tried booting it through gecko but no luck there either.
So I tried extracting the IOS patches from the game disk. I didnt know which ones were needed so I tried installing a couple and had no luck. I tried a few more and thats when I ran into trouble.
The wad manager froze and the wii crashed. Now I'm getting a black screen of death when I try to start it. No health and safety screen or anything. The disk does spin and the wiimote works, but nothing on the screen.
I'm guessing I'm going to have to send it to nintendo for repair, but I'm just hoping that theres something, anything, that someone could suggest for me to try before I do that.

first time I've heard of WAD files causing a brick. Do you know what WAD files you installed exactly when it started? Pull the power and let the power drain from the board and then boot it up.

I know, I never heard of a wad causing a full brick either. Thats why I thought I was safe. The one that crashed the wii when I was installing was IOS33-64-v2832.wad
Tried the plug and unplug trick. Let it sit for about 10 minutes. No change. I've unplugged it again, going to let it sit overnight this time, but I dont expect much.
Also, the wiimotes no longer connect. They did before, or at least I'm pretty sure they did. But now they can only turn the console on. No connection after that.

Wow penguin98 that is crazy stuff.
This is why I think I have never bothered to even try out of region games, even though I also have Wiikey 2 installed, plus homebrew.
I think if it is fully bricked your only other option is the "Savemii" if you know someone who has one.

What happened to me was this:
Playing Warioware Smooth Moves. Turned off in the middle of loading.
Turned on Wii. Black screen, wiimote syncs.
Unplugged all wires from back of wii for 1 minute, put it in again.
Worked.
i dunno why its not working 4 u...

I'll try Maintenance Mode in the morning, but I dont expect it to work because the wiimote won't sync currently.

Left it unplugged for over 12 hours. Nada.
Tried maintenance mode. Nada. :[
I also did some reading on the savemii but I dont think it will help. At least the chances of it working are too low to justify me spending $30 on it.
Looks like I'm going to have to send it in to nintendo for repair. I have a spare unmodded wii drive laying around from someone who bought a pre-modded drive. I'll stick that in and hang on to my modded one so they don't remove my modchip.

They would send the modchip back anyway. Curious now. I have heard of mod chips causing this problem. Did you attempt to remove it and see what that does?

You don't need to spend $30 on savemii if you have a GameCube Controller.
All you need is a game cube controller and put in in slot 4 of the Wii and press all 4 buttons down on the D-PAD and it will boot like savemii does (you might need to disassemble the controller to get all 4 D-Pad connections to connect).
For more info google search savefrii.

Yes, they would send the modchip back, but I'd rather not go through the trouble of resoldering it back on if I could avoid it.
I dont think the problem is related to the modchip either. I'm pretty sure that I'm having seriously conflicting IOS patches somewhere, even though I've never heard of that causing an error like this.
Thanks for the suggestion, larrylje. But it didnt work. Nothing at all appears on the screen. It seems that my only remaining option is having nintendo fix it.

Just thought I would update in case anyone was interested.
I sent in my console and they charged me $70 for repair. I got a discount because, though my wii was obviously well out of warranty (Launch wii) for some reason they had no record of the sale of the console so did not know exactly when the warranty ran out.
Nintendo sent me back a refurbished console, with a new serial number. But for some reason they put it in my wii's plastic shell. Not sure why they'd bother with that but oh well.
Anyway, the new wii they sent me is a 3.3u with a D2C2 chipset covered with black epoxy. So I'm extra glad I kept my original DMS drive with wiikey. Popped that in and everything is looking good.
I lost my save games and Mii's, but all things considered it worked out pretty well.

Yes I was wondering the other day how you made out with it.
Glad it all worked out in the end. $70 doesn't seem to bad a price to pay seeing it was out of warranty
And bonus you had a spare drive to send it in with.
