I just got a dual format DVD burner a while ago and was wondering which media are good to use, and some sources in the USA to order good quality media at a decent price. I currently have had good luck with Memorex DVD+RW media but my tests have currently been limited to an XBOX (thompson drive, apparently very picky) and an Apex AD-1100W DVD player. The Memorex media is made by RICOHJPN (Ricoh Japan?) according to the ATIP info. It appears to work fine, but is kind of expensive at the local walmart (3 for 12 USD).

Ritek G04 is about as good as it gets. You can find them at rima.com, newegg.com or supermediastore.com for around a buck apiece.

Memeorex buys from different sources so you never know if you're getting good discs or not.

Which of those stores are any good? I know newegg is good but they only sell 50 packs of +rw media. Is supermediastore any good, I noticed that they didn't have that great of a rating on resellerratings.com. It looks like rima.com has a much higher rating though. Also wondering if Ritek DVD-RW media are also the same high quality, since it appears to be cheaper than DVD+RW. Finally, since the Memorex were made by Ritek, does that mean the Ritek brand will also work in my XBOX and be compatible with my burner?

I said that the Memorex (Ricoh, apparently) rewritable media did work perfectly in both my drives. It works as well as original media in the XBOX and Apex. For some wierd reason, my Apex DVD player only works with rewritable DVD media. I was wondering if Ritek brand would be similar to the Memorex I used which works perfectly (Ricoh according to the ATIP info). Either way, for DVD video on the Apex, you must use DVD+RW or DVD-RW for some reason.

The Apex DVD player only works with rewritable media for some wierd reason, and the XBOX seems to like Memorex (Ricoh according to ATIP) media. I was wondering if Ritek would give similar results. I was also wondering if Ritek made high quality -R and -RW media as well as +R and +RW, as well as how reliable the online shopping sites you gave (except newegg, which is good) were.

Check this site out.

http://www.dvdrhelp.com/

They have a section on media, burners and on players (among other things). Each section can be searched and users can/do post comments about their experiences.

Hmmm... I wonder what this does?
