Subscribers of TiVo who have access to a broadband Internet connection have gotten good news today from the DVR pioneer. The company has partnered with Amazon to deliver its new HD downloads directly to TiVo subscribers. The math does not work out for HD over Internet. 40Gb is at least 320Gbits per movie. That is about 9 hours of downloading at 10Mb/sec under optimal conditions. Plus, ISPs are starting to clamp down on BW hogs.....I am just not a beleiver. It takes less time to mail the disk (almost). The smart user has a few TB of disk space ripped from Netflix disks to watch at his leisure and then replace when viewed....seems like a much more reasonable approach to me....
