Hello All ! I finally decide to post, hoping :
- 1st : that I'm at the good place...
- 2nd: This topic has not answered posted before
- 3rd: You'll be tolerant with my bad english !! (I come from somewhere in Africa)
What I have : - A modded Slim PS2 (Matrix) with a 80Gb HDrive and definitely no CD-Drive !!
- A lot of ELF files donwloaded and copied from USB card to PS2 Harddrive
- 1 MC used to boot in Dev1 (R1) to launch the appz installed on the drive
- Good skills in computer (not programming!!) and a lot of courage !!
- Oh !! I forgot !! : my 6 yo son who causes me to be there !!
My problem : As I don't want the kid to use the MC exploit (plug MC, press R1, and browse Hdrive via Launchelf), I want to boot the PS2 directly on the hardrive and after 3 secs, then launch HDloader for gaming, without any MC.
I know that it's possible because when I first bought this PSTwo, it auto-launches HDLoader, just after the "Matrix" splash, without any card in it.
Unfortunately, I lost the hardrive mbr (don't ask me why I tried this HDAvance .ELF !! It was late at night and I was tired. Bad idea).
I restored my HDrive and all my gamez and apps but I can no more remember how to configure this hd auto boot function. I guess something is wrong or missing with my files and their location on the PS2 Hardrive (.elf, . cnf, ...). I've successfully configure it to start Launchelf 4.3.0, and by default load HDloader 3.6.1 after 3 secs. But I need to use the Dev1 at start up.
Everything else is working fine as I can launch any apps from the harddrive through Launchelf 4.30.
I searched many places, but did not find a solution. But I learned many things !!
I apologize for beeing long, but I tried to be as clear as possible.
Any guidelines would be greatly appreciated. Thanks !

Well at least you did get it too load uLaunch.elf so you will be able to then install Dev2 which is to the hdd.
Just follow the DEV2 instructions in this tutorial. I can't really help you more than that as I don't own a Matrix modchip.
Good luck and let us know how you make out or if any problems.
Sorry for coming back so late.
I finally solved the pb after following the above tuto and another simple but excellent one from a guy named 'bootleninja" about configuring the Matrix Chip. I just (re)installed the DEV2 mode and the changed the renammed the original boot.elf (Am I allowed to copy-paste the link here ? Maybe it could help for persons like me who spent hours ion the net before finding simple and clear ways for solving some issues)
