I've done some research on this and still cannot find any outright claim, one way or another, that says it's ok to make a copy of DVD that you own for personal use, if you own the DVD. But even if that is or isn't true, I'm assuming that it is not legal to then make a copy for a friend, even one that does not live in this country?
