DIY key probe

Okay so i'm now looking at makingmy own probe and using the 360 for power to flash a liteon drive and hopefully following bhetrick's impending guide, BUT i noticed you need a 1k resistor, a 10k resisitor and a transistor...i have a 1k resistor and a transistor (taken from an old telly lol!) but i have'nt got a 10k resistor...will a 12k resistor do the job?

Go to radioshack or comparable store and buy one. They are only a couple bucks for a pack of 5.

I wouldn't suggest using a 12k as the 10k is most likely there to stop you from shorting out the board, or at very least make it less likely. The higher the resistance you go, the more power it will let through, thus increasing the likelihood of doing damage.
