My dvds won't play in my stand alone Toshiba HD-D3 hd dvd player, but will play in my Sony stand alone dvd player. Here's what I am using: Anydvd, dvdshrink, and imgburn (when burning, anydvd is disabled). I am using the imgburn guide (thank you).

I used to burn with Nero and movies played fine on both players. Since then, I upgraded computers and my version of Nero is not compatible with Vista, that's why I'm using Imgburn.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

are your discs that you are using, + or - R variety ?

If +R, are they booktyped/bitset to dvd-rom ?

Also which brand of disc are you using ?

I am using TDK +R discs. You will have to forgive my ignorance, I don't understand the question, "If +R, are they booktyped/bitset to dvd-rom ?" Will you please elaborate?

Thank you.

Thank you.

Imgburn shows my drive as a TSSTCorp. When in the change book type window, I don't see this brand as an option. Does someone else make this drive for them, and if so, how do I find out who?

Thank you. In the future, how could I figure this out on my own? Also, to fix the issue I'm having, in the change book type window, I would change the following:

Change for: Drive (For DVD +R media)
New Setting: DVD-ROM

In theory, would this fix my issue?

I got really excited because the dvd started to play in the hd dvd player, then I attempted to track skip...

it froze and gave me an error.

Did I do something wrong? Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Post your ImgBurn log.
Also, when was the last time you cleaned the standalone's laser lens?

I decided to try using my Sony USB drive and it appears that fixed the problem. This is actually the same one I was using on the old computer (before the problems). I haven't tried updating the firmware on the Samsung drive yet. I'm going to try a few more dvds to make sure this going to work. Thanks for all the help. I really appreciate it.
