A little searching goes a long ways. If you have flashed it before then its easier now.

First off download the new Firmware Toolbox, or if you are running a 32 bit OS Jungleflasher is pretty easy to use.

If you download Jungleflasher from the official site it should come with the up to date FW (which, by the way, will be outdated come middle of May, so you might want to just wait until then)
Make sure you have the iExtreme 1.51 FW for your drive, I.E. 47, 78, whatever it may be, it will say in the file name which ROM version it is for.

Then simply hook it up however you choose, eject the tray, UNPLUG the power, plug it back in, and the tray should go back in. Now, hit eject, should take two presses for it to come out, if it does, your in Mode B, if not, try again or try another method(Slax or two wire trick).

Then go into Jungle Flasher or FW Toolbox, whichever you choose, and follow the instructions found in tutorials for those programs to flash it.

Very long winded explanation, but very easy. And as long as you verify your copy of FIFA or any other game for that matter with ABGX V. 1.0.1 and it comes out good, then it is safe to play online.

And no, you don't have to upgrade to play your games, you can just patch them, but if you will be playing a lot of newer games it is worth while to update your FW so you don't have to patch every single one.

And yes, older games will work. The new FW just lets new games(wave 3) work as well.

And for future reference, a lot of people will not help you with a question like this because it is (and I just got beat down for not following this rule) considered courtesy if you search the site and forums for the answer first, as this has been answered many times before.

Yes, thats basically it, but don't forget, if the Slax disc doesn't work right off, you can open tray, unplug power, plug back in, (turn xbox back on if thats what your using to power the drive) and hit eject twice to confirm Mode B. Thats the easiest method for drives that have already been flashed once.

Well, I just remembered, with Hitachi drives you MUST return it to original firmware before flashing again. Unlike the other types of drives, you cannot flash overtop of a previous iExtreme firmware.

So, when you download the iExtreme firmware, its easiest to search for the download(found on the official site) that has all of the iExtreme 1.51 firmwares together. It will have the original firmware for your drive(indicated by origXX.bin, the X's being your Rom Version) You dump the key, spoof the original firmware with your key, and flash the drive with it to return it to original state, then spoof your iExtreme fw and flash again.

You don't have to download the origXX.bin if you have your original firmware still on your computer(was saved to computer when you dumped it during the first flash).

Hope that helps!
