Hi there,
Have a wii about 2 years old (just under) and it started to make a noise a few months back. Anyway it got worse and worse and now it is a very loud buzzing noise. It got really loud after my 2 year old son put 2 games in there at onece.. I have followed other forum guides and youtube videos on how to open the wii and i can see the noise is coming from the metal plates on the top of the disk clamp. However no matter which way i bend it the noise will not stop. Has anyone any magic cures?
Also does anyway know where i could get it fixed or perhaps the disc drive replaced? I live in North London. I am assuming nintendo wont fix now as i have opened the console??
Many thanks, Charlie :o)

Nintendo will fix it, but they'll charge you.

You probably need a new DVD drive.

You can buy DVD drives and replace just that.

Use google or try to find Wii website part replacement in Europe. I am from the USA and only know of North American sites.

You could use the USB Loader to play your games until you get the drive replaced or sent to Nintendo (buying a replacement drive and replacing it yourself would probably be cheaper).

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. I'm not savvy enough to change the drive myself but I am going to take it into a local repair shop i've managed to track down :o)
Thanks again, Charlie.

There are only 4 screws and 2 clips to unclip to replace the drive.

You don't need to be tech savy to do it.

This guide HERE shows you at the end of the guide the 4 screws and 2 clips that need to be removed.

After you remove the drive follow the guide backwords to assemble it with the new drive.
