PSP firmware upgrade

I have got M33-4 on my PSP and want to take it off and upgrade to the official firmware. If I just upgarde to the official firmware will this get rid of it? If not is there as option in the recovery menu to get rid of it? Basically I want to restore it to how it was when it was new then do an official upgrade to the latest version.
