I am using an Acer 5515 with Vista Home Basic installed. The DVD burner says it is a "TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L633A SCSI CdRom Device" (under Device Manager). I have ImgBurn Version 2.4.4.0 currently. I have tried to burn "Hasbro Family Game Night" and "Block Party" .iso files.
The former went through the verification, but hung in about the same place as the latter. The latter I un-ticked the "verify" option and it still has a similar error, with the following log:

Would someone be so kind and help me figure out what is causing the problems? I am using CompUSA branded DVD-R blank media and I have tried to burn 2 DVDs so far. The first one, I attempted to play on the Wii but said it wasn't readable. The second one I didn't put into the Wii, as it played the "Oh oh!" sounder from ImgBurn. What could be the issue: my choice of blank DVD-R, the ImgBurn software settings, or even outdated DVD-recorder firmware? Thanks in advance!
3. Why are you trying to verify anyway? the best way to know if your burn is good is to put it into the Wii.
I never use imgburn to verify. IMHO it's a waste of time. It's faster and more reliable to just pop the disc into the Wii.
1. I read that Verbatim 16x is a good blank DVD-R. The lowest price I seen so far is: 100 DVD-R for $22.99with free shipping.
2. I have never heard of AnyDVD, but I read the link you gave and I don't have it. All I have on the Wii is Homebrew Channel and Backup Loader. I never did try loading the first burned DVD using Backup Loader yet, though.
3. I didn't know that I didn't have to verify; it was pre-selected on the ImgBurn default. The 2nd DVD attempt, resulted in what I typed above.
I was about to ask if I needed to verify the DVD or not, so you answered that question -- thanks!
I will await your reply and then find the Verbatim DVD-R if that's what you recommend. Thanks for the quick reply!
I think I will go for the Verbatim I linked to above. I was seeking coupon codes all night, newegg has the best price (at least today).
Onto burning, the first DVD I recorded it at 4x, the 2nd I tried 1x speed. I read that 4x is the most to burn, or just best results? Are there any other settings on ImgBurn that I should adjust? Or are the errors based solely on the crappy CompUSA blank DVDs? I read other places that I could set it for DVD-ROM, instead of DVD-R -- or is that only for DVD+R discs? I guess I am somewhat thinking it's the ImgBurn software out of my newness to burning. Thanks again!
Just a little update on my situation. I burned using a Verbatim DVD-R at 4x speed without issues or error messages yesterday. I played 3 of the titles. The only apparent downfall is a bit of slow loading in between rounds on "The Price is Right," but not that big of a deal. I played "Deal or No Deal" & "Hasbro Family Fun Night" without issues though.
So, I would venture the problem was solved by poor quality DVD-R discs. If anyone still reads this, the solution has been found and could now be "closed" -- unless others want to comment as well. Thanks again to dailun for pointing me in the right direction.
