You have to give more information than that.

You have a DVD+R in the drive and you're selecting change booktype for a DVD+RW.
I like your demonstration.

Well, all the others give me another error message. Which one would I pick for DVD+R to dvd-r?

Subscribed as i use CMC Mag M01 under the Maxell guise. I think i still have an LG 4163B installed at home, can't remember which machine it's in though. Anyways, as far as i remember the 4163B does booktype fine as long as the firmware is up to date. I think 'No Additional Sense' means that the burner can't (fully) recognise the media. The 4163B is pretty old now, as far as i remember A106 was the latest official firmware, you're on A101 - CMC Mag M01 are quite new discs for that old burner to recognise properly.
edit- just watching that clever screengrab demo thing and the 4163B was the drive in use before you switched to a LiteOn tab for booktyping. Not sure what that's all about as haven't seen those tabs before.
I've not messed with any booktype tab in imgburn before, all my +R discs are booktyped automatically. As i say it's a long time since i've used a 4163B, can't remember if the firmware allows the booktyping setting to 'stick' after a reboot . I do know that in Nero Burning Rom you can set the booktype option via the Recorder/Choose Recorder option and the option .sticks'.

Post the burn logfile here (to the forum page as opposed to your screengrab utility as it's easier to read on screen plus we can copy/paste bits of it...)

The rest of it ?. The logfile should be ~ C:\Documents and Settings\<your username>\Application Data\Imgburn\Log Files\ImgBurn.log and each burn appends to the same logfile, post the relevant burn entry for us.

I chopped the logfile down for you, but it's still difficult to figure out what's going on in the logfile

That'll be what Nero logfiles show as "PMA update failure", just did a quick search and found this ~
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_jump.cfm/332674/1962412
..snippet from there Originally posted by creaky: - my understanding is that this error isn't in fact a real error but a symptom of other problems. as per binkie7 try at 4x and see how it goes... my faulty 4167B has been unplugged and kept as a general use drive for when i build a new PC. My 4163B and new Benq DW1650 quite fare always used at 8x, even concurrently using Nero's 'multiple recorders' feature and my 4167B was actually faulty from new...
Using different discs would probably help, and if others work it'll most likely be down to the firmware being able to recognise them properly whereas your A101 firmware seems to be barfing on your current discs.
..i think you first need to update the burner's firmware to A106 via dialysis1's link above. I'll see if i can find out some more info on what media support the A101 and A106 firmware contain.
edit- just been mooching over at the imgburn forums and found this sticky on PMA failures from imgburn's author 'Lightning UK' ~

Sorry i always write my replies such they help more than just the person who started the thread, was just adding more info re the PMA Update failure, though it's not the easiest thing to troubleshoot.
Have you tried a new burn since applying the latest firmware ?

This drive dates back to 2004. I wouldn't even bother with it. For about 25 bucks or less you could have a new hassle free burner.

A DVD-R cannot be booktyped. It may be more compatible with your players but as I said a new burner is cheap.
Should you ever want to burn DL discs, you'll want to use Verbatim +RDL and you'll want to have a burner capable of booktyping and giving a good burn.
