3.90 M33-3 wallpaper problem

I have a PSP 1006 with 3.90 M33-3 firmware. When I set a wallpaper, switch off the psp (or put it in standby mode) then switch it on and try to run a game, it will not work and I have to go to the recovery menu to adjust the settings and change the setting to "no umd required". Is there any solution to this besides not using a wallpaper?

Yes normally it is like that until I switch off the device then everything seems to reset. The next time I switch it on there's no vsh menu and the games won't run. I have to enter recovery menu. Note this only happens if I'm using my own wallpaper and not the default background. Should I just upgrade to a newer M33 version?

Ok I just updated to version 5.00 M33 with 1.50 kernel and still the same problem. I wonder if other M33 users are able to use their own wallpaper without any problems?
