hey guys, i havent attempted an x clamp fix in over a year( unsuccesful i might add) but im going to attempt one soon on my buddies box. after searching to refresh my memory, i came upon http://www.xbox-experts.com/e/tutorial.php?n=hybrid the info presented seems logical, so im wondering who has used this method? did you buy their kit or do your own with the old clamps?
i have done some of those things. i sanded down my standoffs, cut out the rear metal grill for advanced airflow. i took heatsinks from a memory module on a video card and glued them down to the memory chips on top that are eposed as well as the hana/ana chip.all has been good so far about 6 months and that box had rrod like 4 times
I have done it to a couple of Xbox's and they work great, its been over 3 months and they are still going, what they say about sanding down the standpoints is totally true and needed.
For one xbox that did not work right away I actually needed to apply heat to the GPU, I know for a fact that no one recommends to overheat the xbox and to use a heat gun instead but I find that a bit risky, and so I dismounted the fan put it on top of the CPU so that it won't shut down the Xbox while on, waited for about 25-30 min, let it cool down by itself for about 45 min, and after that it worked fine.
Both xbox's are working fine and have been ever since, I think they will be OK, meaning that it does seem to be a permanent fix if done properly!!
Oh I forgot to mentioned I did not used their Uniclamp, I used the regular Xclamp, I am yet to find a better technique!!
