Hey,
I was wonder i have a Sony Vaio that is running like shit. And i wanted to change it from professional XP to a vista eternity edition. Is this a good idea?
What might work, what might not?
Never heard of it so don't know but from what I can see, isn't that a pirated edition, won't get much help if it is? Vista shouldn't run better than XP, what is the problem with XP? I'm not a pro on security but if that may be the issue, run Dr Web's Cureit or Panda ActiveScan, maybe both. Nothing is installed, you're essentially updating Dr Web. Also Super Antispyware (SAS for short) (free version) or Malawarebytes Anti Malware (MBAM-free) or again, both. You can also fine tune your start up list to speed thing's, either at start>run>type in msconfig, press enter>start up or use Tune Up Utilities 2007 (free version) start up manager (lot's more too): http://www.v3.co.uk/vnunet/downloads/223...-utilities-2007 excellent tool I've used for year's, after okaying opening 3 windows, you can select not to be asked again. Edit: another thought, maybe your drive need's defragmenting.
Not sure as I only ran Vista for about 3 day's before I went back to XP but my version of Nero, a well known encoder I use, an audio program that does support Vista, Vista's own codecpack, WMP and on and on didn't work. I saw a list of program's that don't support Vista somewhere and it was fairly lenghthy but maybe that's changed since. Why not wait a few day's until Window's 7 RC 1 is released, I'll believe it when I see it but, supposedly, it'll be available free to all for 13 month's: http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=240911 I've seen numerous review's that all say the first beta of 7 was better than Vista is. Another option is a version of Linux, a Live CD will let you try it out, something I think MS would do well to copy, only it would have to expire at some future time after being used. Free too but there is a definite learning curve. Anyway, I'd be a bit leery about installing a pirate OS.
