Ok, so pardon my ignorance, but I'm pretty much lost now that I've installed my Wii key 2. My wii is a d2b and I just installed the key. I turned it on and the key flashed blue so I know I'm good to go that far. Now my problem is that I don't know what to do now to update my firmware and be able to play Wii downloaded Wii games. A little help please?
I downloaded the config disk from here http://www.wiikey.cn/resources/ , extracted it, burned it to a disk with imgburn, put it in my Wii and it sayh s"an error has occurred, Press the Eject button and remove the disc. Then turn the Wii console off and refer to the Wii Operations Manual for help troubleshooting."

Have you tried playing a backup game yet?

You have +3.3v, GND, A, B and C connected only?

What brand of media are you using?

The brand is more important then the format of the media (Verbatim or Tayio Yuden are the most recommend).

DVD-R is most compatible. If you use DVD+R then try booktyping it to DVD-ROM if your burner supports it. Do not use Dual layer media like suggested above. The only game that needs a Dual layer disc is Super Smash Brother Brawl.

Use IMGBurn and burn at 4X.

I used the wii clip to go with it because I didn't want to solder and mess something up. If by backup game you mean a game that was downloaded as an iso file, yes I have tried to use one, and the wii doesn't recognize it. It plays all of the regular games that it played before, it just doesn't recognize the dvds

Look at the Wiikey and WiiClip connection. Make sure there are only solder on +3.3v GND A B and C.

If there is solder connecting D E F G then you need to remove the solder from those spots.

Yoiu only want +3.3v GND A B and C connected for D2B drives.

Also you didn't tell me what DVD media brand your using.

What was the issue?

This is a helping forum and your solution is just as important as your question. The solution could help others in the future if they have this same issue.

well, I thought I fixed it lol. I figured out that I'm stupid and I told imgburn to write a file to the disk, not an image....so I burned a dvd with the actual image on it and now I get a different error lol. it's a black screen that says "An error has occurred. PRess the eject button and remove the disc, then turn the Wii console off and refer to the Wii operations manual for help troubleshooting"

More then likely your using cheap media. For the THIRD time what brand are you using?

What is the Brand of your Burner?

Also check the above advice I gave as well.

use the Verbatim disks i know they are on the expensive side (its all my 360 would work with for a month) and by burner we mean the actual dvd drive e.g samsung, piorner,hp

Brand of burner as in the little thing you put the blank DVD's in.

More then likely it is cheap media. Find out what the Manufacture ID # of the media is. Do this by placing a blank DVD in the DVD drive and start IMGBurn choose to write a img to disc and in the right hand window there is a list of info. Find where it says Manufacture ID: and let me know what it is (you do not have to actaully burn the ISO to get this info).

that? there isn't a line that says manufacture ID, so I'm assuming that's it?

If you have the blank media in the drive then IMGBurn will give you a manufacture ID of the media your using.

You need to try some Verbatim or Tayio Yuden. If you can't find those then try Sony.

Also try burning at 4X not 2X.

It is under Disc ID: but mine says Manufacture ID.

Any way MCC-004-00 is listed as first class media and is under verbatim manufacture list.

Try booktyping the media to DVD-ROM.

Click on the little book icon in the lower left hand corner of IMGBurn.

Choose the LG TAB.

Set Change For: to DVD+R media.

Set New Setting: to DVD-ROM

Then set burn speed at 4X and try burning the Wii game.
