burn speed problem

my problem is i have a Lite-On DH-20A4P external drive hooked up to my laptop through my usb. Lite-On DH-20A4P is a DL DVD burner that aparently is capable of burning dl at 1x, 2x, 2.4x, 4x, 8x and 16x.

i use imgburn to burn my disks, i am trying to copy x-men origins which i have downloaded extracted the rar run it through agbx on 3rd wave autofix and the iso passes all checks the werification is fine all cecs match and it is also stealthed. The problem is what ever speed i set my drive to when it burnes it always burnes at 4x (3.9x to be exact) and when i take the burned disc out and run it through agbx it fails the verification it says it could be one of four errors but i know its the drives speed causing the problem. i have tryed everything in my power, nothing has worked so far.

i have also used verbs and it still burnes at 4x im in trouble can anyone help?

to be honest i dont think checking from disc is reliable. FOr example i have a stack of games i know i ran thru abgx and they passed. yet when i check with disc it says there is no ini in the databse when i know for a fact there is one cause it downloaded it when i fixed the iso. and even more is that i have the last remnant a 2 disc game the first disc passes and the second disc does not cause no ini can be found WTF!!?!?! and i have also checked a game burnt it and then checked it from disc and it fails like you said for one of 4 errors but i can take the same disc put it in a different computer/drive and it passes perfectly...

i have brought these things up with xmod before but he didnt address my question he just said i couldnt repair the the disc with autofix lol when i wasnt asking that or trying to do that. i think he misunderstood my question.

unfortunatly that is an unknown. myself i would and have as there is not really a 100% way to be sure if you are protected or not. i dont fear the banhammer, i expect it and think of it as an inconvenience till i get another box, free games are enough to sway me. better than not enjoying your games right

well thats the thing they all had the ini cause i checked them with abgx before burning and i wouldnt burn unless abgx said it was all good. so i know its there but it just reports falsly i think when checked from disc. but i would say i have like 3-4 games i have played like this at least. but i didnt start playing on live till about 3-4 months ago which was after the last banwave.
