Ok, so I'm looking for some general troubleshooting steps here. I've modded several wiis (both with chips and without) and never had any problems with discs not reading.

Now my personal wii just out of the blue stopped reading any discs at all. Factory, backups, all won't read.

Would the first thing to check be the laser? Is there some sort of pot tweak? Looking for some help troubleshooting. Thanks.

How about doing a search first. HEHE J/K

Sounds like a drive issue if both Retail and backups no longer work.

Are you still using your Wiikey? Did you check to make sure none of the connections have become unstable over time? Maybe it went faulty and might revive your retail games again if you uninstall it.

There is a way to adjust the POT so you might want to start their if the above doesn't work. If that doesn't work then try replacing the laser or the drive itself.

yeah, I was just wondering what your general experience has been with no reads. I haven't cracked it open yet.

I still have ol reliable (original wiikey). Hell I haven't even dabbled with the USB loaders yet. (looks great) I have to go win a poker tourny this weekend and then I'll be able to afford an external drive.

Yeap the USB loader is great.

I can't remember the last time I used my Wii drive.

I just rip everything to my PC and transfer it over to the USB HDD drive.
